Paperwork

All swimmers will need to bring a signed Disclaimer Form to hand in at registration.

Endurance swimmers will need to bring a signed Endurance Witness Form on the day.

General

Normal swimming costumes only, no jammers, nothing covering arms or legs.

One swim cap only. No neoprene hats without a doctors’ note.

No flippers, fins, snorkels, paddles, kayaks, wetsuits or other things that aid buoyancy or performance.

The organiser’s decision on whether or not a swimmer is attired appropriately is final.

We approve of and endorse considerate conduct and fair play. We raise eyebrows and frown upon shenanigans and gamesmanship.

No diving. No tumble turns.

All swimmers must sign in at Parliament Hill Lido on the morning of the competition – Saturday 13 January 2024.

Registration opens at 8am and closes at 10am Failure to register will result in disqualification. Please allow plenty of time to arrive and register.

You will need to print and complete a disclaimer form. You will not be allowed to swim unless you bring a completed form.

Upon registration, each swimmer will be given a number, and wristband. you must show this to access the pool, sauna and hot tub.

When you see your race or heat number displayed, you should assemble ready to swim for briefing at the pre race assembly point. Any swimmers assembling late might not get to swim.

2 × 122m “Dread the Tread” – new for 2022!

2 × competitors in a mixed team, each swimming 2 × 61m lengths.

Both swimmers must enter the water and stay in the water until they have both finished their swims.

Both swimmers must tread water as they wait, no touching the wall or lane rope.

Start – first swimmer holds wall with one hand, second swimmer treads water and touches nothing as their teammate swims two lengths.

Takeover – second swimmer can only hold the wall once the first swimmer enters the 5m red zone and starts after the first swimmer touches the wall.

Continuation – first swimmer must then let go of wall immediately and tread water without touching anything as their teammate completes two lengths.

Finish – when the second swimmer reaches the wall, then both swimmers can exit the water.
